Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished 2nd in Sunday’s Virtual F1 GP. Unfortunately, he was not too happy with the track limits rules in the F1 2019 game. According to him, the stewarding at the Virtual Spanish GP was fairly lax, because a number of drivers abused track limits.

The Monegasque driver had his hands full with a pesky George Russell as they fought for victory. However, both drivers  were liberally track-extending at the final part of the Barcelona chicane. The sneaky tactic allowed them to cut the corner in order to get more speed.

Sadly for Charles Leclerc, he stepped out a little too far on the final lap, and got slapped with a three-second penalty. He crossed the line in second place behind race-winner Russell. Admittedly, the Williams F1 driver also copped a penalty for a similar offence, though he kept the win.

In spite of raging, he did acknowledge that George Russell beat him fairly and deserved to win. However, he confessed that it was disappointing to cop a penalty on the penultimate lap despite pushing the limits.

“The only thing is the track limits on the last corner was a bit easier than other parts of the track,” he explained. “I was trying to cut a little bit more every lap. Everyone has done that. George probably had the penalty the same way I did.”
