Mercedes has dominated the Formula 1 grid since 2014, claiming every single constructors’ and drivers’ title since. Going into the last season of this era, most predict another easy season for the Brackley squad. Meanwhile, Gene Haas has stated an opinion that we all keep thinking about.
The Haas F1 boss explained how the domination of Mercedes has made the sport very boring for the Formula 1 fans. According to him, the lack of competitiveness has had a critical effect on the boredom of the F1 community.
“[Mercedes] built an extremely high performance, fuel-efficient, durable engine that no other team has come close to. For me, it really killed what Formula 1 stands for.

“More power for Mercedes by being able to dominate so much of the race. Thing, but who wants to go to a race when you know who’s going to win every damn race? That gets boring,” explained Gene Haas.

The American team has had a tough couple of seasons since 2019. However, the Ferrari woes also affected Haas F1 because the team is a Maranello team’s engine customer. But the team’s boss remains optimistic about the future of his team.

“I am optimistic about the future. I know this year will be difficult because we basically have the same car as last year, and Ferrari’s power unit will be very similar to last year, so we know that will not give us any competitive advantage.
