Sprint qualifying is done and dusted with Valtteri Bottas taking the chequered flag. However, the talking point is Daniel Ricciardo taking third place. The Australian has been missing from the front row for a prolonged period, but now will see the five red rights from second place; taking into consideration Bottas’ penalty.
McLaren are grateful for earning a single point courtesy of Ricciardo’s pace around Monza. However, the driver hailing from Perth knows tomorrow is the main day but is grateful to be back.

The Australian was starting in fifth place behind his teammate, Lando Norris. The 32-year-old knew he had to bring the most out of his Mercedes-powered car to bring a good result for the Woking-based outfit.

After taking third place in the sprint race, Ricciardo said, “Well, its been a long time to be in this position So it’s good to be back, and tomorrow is the important one, but we gain a position from Valtteri’s problems, So we are in the front row, and that has been a long time. So very happy for that.”

A podium for Ricciardo at Monza
Daniel’s start at McLaren has been a rollercoaster one. However, after showing his pace in yesterday’s quali session and earning a front-row start for Sunday’s race, Ricciardo is optimistic about earning his first podium for the Woking-based outfit.
The Australian has one point in the bag from crossing the line in third place at the Italian Grand Prix. But, he knows that Sunday is the all-important race day; Ricciardo hopes to earn seize more points for his McLaren colleagues.
