You could be one of the best racing drivers in the world, but if you can’t convert one victory into more victories, problems will arise. Such is the case of Sergio Perez‘s stint with Red Bull in 2023. He won 2 out of the first 4 races. But that was it. It all came tumbling down. But for him and his fans, the Hungarian GP was a relief. But his glorious climb up the grid, from P9 to P3, hasn’t impressed an F1 veteran, who believes Perez’s time at Red Bull is coming to an end.

Most drivers on the grid would love to drive in the RB19. Despite having that privilege, Perez has shown midfield-like performances in the last 5 races. Now, as the Mexican racer tries to find his footing back among the frontrunners, inconsistency plagues his performances. And that is why he might soon get axed from Red Bull, believes Ralf Schumacher.

Schumacher said, as quoted by Formulapassion, “He had his chance in Red Bull, it’s over. After numerous mistakes in recent weeks, there has been a lot of criticism again after his crash in PL1. Perez’s problem is consistency. He has too many vicissitudes and may not be psychologically stable enough. He’s just too far away from Max and, for me, his days at Red Bull are numbered.”

Many have pointed out that the Mexican racer needs to find consistency. And the man himself, Perez agrees that his inconsistency is an issue.

Sergio Perez Looks for Consistency and Ambitiously Sets His Eyes on the Belgium GP

After a horrible start to the race weekend in Hungary, Perez made up for it with a rare Q3 appearance. Though he could only manage P9 in Qualifying, he made up for it on Sunday with some fiery race pace. He is not at the level of his teammate, Max Verstappen’s performances. However, the Guadalajara-born driver has a glimmer of hope that he intends to carry to the coming race weekend at Spa.

Perez said, in a post-race interview, “It was a tough race, very hot out there, very demanding physically. It’s obviously a good result, now I just have to find that consistency and make sure that we operate on that level [going forward], but it’s been a very good day in the championship. Now I’m looking forward massively to Belgium.”

Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most iconic F1 circuits. It has very high-speed corners that suit Red Bull‘s car, but the track temperature would be lower, and getting tires warmed up is what the RB19 struggles with. To shut the criticism from outside stakeholders, Sergio Perez will have to find the right balance to get on the podium of the legendary Belgian track.
