The epitome of consistency, George Russell has certainly enjoyed his first year as a Mercedes driver. Despite a troublesome season for the Brackley-based outfit, the young Briton has been a silver lining for them. He delivered the team’s only pole position this season. Furthermore, he leads Lewis Hamilton in the driver’s championship by 20 points.

In the recent past, there has been a lot of talk regarding Lewis Hamilton’s retirement. However, George Russell has dismissed such rumors and is happy that the 7-time champion will be at Mercedes for the foreseeable future. The former Williams driver cherishes the opportunity to go head-to-head against Hamilton.
George said, “It’s really exciting to have that potential of Lewis staying on for a number of years to come. I think he’s proven that he’s definitely not lifted his foot off the throttle pedal and in the last few races, he’s performing probably better than ever.”
Lewis Hamilton finished an impressive 2nd in the US GP after nearing a first win of the season. Meanwhile, Russell, who took out Carlos Sainz in the first turn of the race, finished in P5, scoring 11 important points for Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton is itching to sign a ‘multi-year’ deal with Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton has had an illustrious career with the Silver Arrows. He’s won 6 of his 7 world championships with Mercedes. Moreover, he plans on continuing his long-standing affair with the Brackley-based constructors. Ahead of the Mexican GP, Lewis expressed his desire to sign a “multi-year” deal with Mercedes.

Lewis said, “I’m not putting a limit on it to be honest. I’m planning to do a multi-year deal with my team. I really, really don’t know what the next five years (hold). I think we’re still trying to work on that”.

He further added, “There are a lot of great things being put in place, like I just launched a production company this week, but I feel great in my mind and body. I want to continue, I think there’s more stuff for us to achieve together so I want to be here longer.”
Hamilton will be looking to cement a title challenge against Red Bull and Max Verstappen next year. Mercedes and Lewis are without a win so far this season.
