Fernando Alonso and Co. have fallen down the ladder since the Italian GP. After a disappointing Singapore GP, Fernando Alonso looked forward to his favorite track, the Suzuka Circuit for a massive result. However, all that the Spaniard was left with during the mid-way of the race was a disappointment. As Alonso fumes, Lewis Hamilton executes poetic humiliation. But what happened to Alonso?

Fernando Alonso started the race on soft tires and made up 4 places on the start putting him up in P6. Though, as the soft tires degraded faster, Alonso had to pit early. Later in the race, As others pitted, Alonso was stuck behind his old teammate Esteban Ocon. One by one, everyone on fresh tires overtook Alonso and then Ocon. But yet, Alonso had no way through.

Then Lewis Hamilton came up behind Alonso, the guy that the Spaniard was racing at the restart. However, the multiple overtakes by other front runners and Aston Martin’s strategy left Alonso fuming as he was heard on the radio saying,You have thrown me to the lions by stopping that early mate. Unbelievable.” Hamilton easily overtook his old rival on the very next lap after the radio message.

What an overtake that was. Through 130R, round the outside of Alonso’s AMR23. Does that sound familiar? Yes, it was a quite poetic humiliation for the Spaniard about 18 years after he pulled off a similar move at 130R on none other than Michael Schumacher in the 2005 Japanese GP.

However, the misery didn’t end for Fernando Alonso who then pleaded with his team as he wasn’t able to overtake Esteban Ocon. But what did Alonso say?

Fernando Alonso has usually been very cool and calm on the team radios this year. However, at the Japanese GP, we saw a little bit of the Villain coming back. First, it was the Lion radio message and was then followed by a message explaining his straight-line deficit to Ocon.

Eventually, it was a very terrible race for Aston & Fernando, relative to where they had been at the start of this year. Alonso will hope that they turn around this situation again with some upgrades. Or at least plan a similar big sustained performance leap for 2024, as they did in 2023.
