Former F1 Team Principal Eddie Jordan believes Sebastian Vettel wouldn’t be able to go toe to toe with Lewis Hamilton in the same car. Jordan was referencing Vettel’s age and current dip in form when discussing a potential seat at Aston Martin.
It’s been a difficult few seasons for Sebastian Vettel. The 4-time World Champion joined Ferrari with lofty ambitions and a childhood dream of emulating Michael Schumacher.
Sadly, he may never be able to fulfill those dreams as he prepares to depart from the team he grew up idolizing.

Jordan doesn’t see Sebastian Vettel besting Lewis Hamilton
Vettel’s fall in F1 coincided with the meteoric rise of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. The Brackley-based outfit displaced Red Bull as the top team in F1 at the start of the turbo-hybrid era.
For 6 years, Mercedes have dominated the sport and annihilated the competition.

Eddie Jordan reckons Vettel doesn’t stand a chance against the 6-time World Champion, even in the same car. Furthermore, Jordan explained how Vettel’s teammate – Charles Leclerc, beat him in his first year at Ferrari.
Speaking to the F1 Nation podcast, Jordan said:
“Are you telling me, in a similar car, that he could fight toe to toe with Lewis Hamilton?” responded Jordan, when reminded that Vettel was only 33.
“At the moment, psychologically, he can’t even do that with Charles Leclerc! Can he do it with Lewis, I don’t think so. That would be the way I would look at it, in terms of if [i] was the boss of the team.”

But two men dominated the last decade of Formula 1, Hamilton and Vettel. As a result, fans often compare the two World Champions, debating who would come out on top in a fair head-to-head battle.
We are yet to see both drivers in equal machines over the course of an entire Championship season. Yes, there have been races where either one of them was in a much more superior car, but in all honesty, it hasn’t been a fair fight.
Arguably, Hamilton currently holds the edge over the German as he’s in the form of his life. Moreover, the Briton’s consistency is simply on another level, almost reminiscent of the great Michael Schumacher.
