F1 can be interpreted as a simple sport. You build a fast car; you get two fast drivers; you win. However, to get to that, you first need a solid team, with commercial backing. There’s a reason why we see only a few faces at the very zenith of Formula 1. And when they fall, they all have that one thing in common: resources.

Once in a while, however, you come across that underdog. David challenges the Goliaths of Formula 1 and beats them. Brawn GP was exactly that. What happened in that famous 2009 season will now be immortalized on our screens, courtesy of Hollywood legend Keanu Reeves.

Reeves has revealed that the Formula 1 documentary project he was working on is, in fact, the story of Brawn GP; the $1 Formula 1 team.

He explained, “You’ll know the circumstances that went into that season. The financial crisis.”

He went on to shed some light on the project whilst not giving away too much. “Our story is about Honda withdrawing from F1 and Ross Brawn who had joined Honda a year and a half earlier.”

Button recalls how he found out about this. According to the Briton, his manager asked him to phone him up, and when he did, his manager answered, “I’m really sorry to give you this news… but you won’t be racing with Honda in F1 in 2009.”

A puzzled Button replied by saying that he had a contract with the team. However, his manager responded, “Yes, but they’re pulling out of the sport.”
