Even getting into top 10 becomes old: Kevin Magnussen

The former Haas driver revealed that his excitement for racing in F1 took a drastic hit as even getting into the top 10 became a herculean task.

Everyone wants to get to Formula 1, including myself,” he said. “That’s what I’ve always dreamt of. But after a while, if you can’t win races, even scoring points isn’t so exciting. With Haas, we’ve done that quite a lot. Recently, not so much. But even getting into the top 10 becomes old. That’s not a true target if you’re a real winner. That is not going to satisfy you.”

The past two years for Magnussen have been all about struggles in Haas. The team had plenty of issues with tire degradation, as he was forced to pit multiple times, leaving him lurking way down the pack. 2020 turned out to be even worse for Magnussen, as his team failed to receive a competitive engine from Ferrari.

This led to Haas fighting with the bottom-field teams. Hence, despite losing out his seat at Haas, Magnussen would be relieved with the fact that he can finally aim for the top step in the lower racing series.
