Kimi Raikkonen received heavy criticism after a shared a seemingly controversial meme on Instagram. Although Kimi intended to play a joke on Lewis Hamilton, it didn’t settle well with the fans. They took it as an offense to the reigning World Champion.

Netizens took offense to Kimi’s Lewis Hamilton post

Kimi Raikkonen recently came out to clarify his post and his intentions along with it. “It was probably a little different back then when I started. But it has always been like that in the last few years,” the 2007 champion said regarding his joke.

Lewis Hamilton, in the post that Kimi posted, was advertising for a brand. Raikkonen took that picture, fused it alongside a James Hunt shirtless picture, and tagged it, “Evolution of a Formula 1 Driver”
