Lance Stroll stole the pole position from his teammate at the very last minute of the qualifying at the Turkish Grand Prix. However, in a sudden turn of events, the Canadian could be scrapped off his pole and potentially be handed to Max Verstappen.

Apparently, the stewards have launched an investigation against Stroll for failing to slow down under yellow flags caused by Sergio Perez.

The Racing Point driver was summoned by the stewards for “allegedly non-respecting yellow flags at 16:48 at turn seven, alleged breach of Appendix H, Art. 2.5.5.1.b) and alleged non-compliance with Race Director’s Event Notes 7.2 (Single Waved Yellow Flags).”

If the stewards find the Canadian guilty, then he will likely face a grid penalty, which will result in Red Bull taking over the first spot while Perez will jump ahead to P2.

Did Racing Point take a huge gamble with Lance Stroll?

According to sources, Racing Point advised Stroll to keep pushing the car as it was only a single-waved yellow flag. As a consequence, his pole still remains to be provisional as all eyes will be on the Stewards and their decision on the possible infringement.

Nevertheless, one cannot take away the fact that Stroll’s final flying lap was just incredible, despite being under threat. Although Max looked like the possible pole-sitter through most parts of the qualifying, the Racing Point driver came out of nowhere to beat the Dutch by nearly 0.3 seconds.

What’s more shocking is that Racing Point’s cars have never looked this competitive when it comes to wet or even damp tracks. Hence, the whole Formula 1 community went in awe when they witnessed both the ‘Pink Panthers’ dominating through Q3.

Up until now, it all looked good for Racing Point, with their drivers set to start the race from P1 and P3. However, the question is, will Racing Point manage to hold on to the same positions? Or will they witness the pole-sitter, Lance Stroll, being denied of his first-ever pole position in F1?

UPDATE: Stroll keeps his pole

Well, things luckily did not take a turn for the worse for Lance Stroll. The Canadian will keep the pole to himself and will start from the first row of the grid as the FIA decided not to take further action against him.

Now that the headache is cleared in terms of Stroll, Racing Point can now focus on prepping him a car that is capable of fighting for the podium in tomorrow’s race in a hope that he returns with one.
