Lando Norris has quickly made a name for himself in Formula One. The young Brit made his debut in the sport in 2019 and he has become one of the most popular drivers. Although Norris is happy with his fame, he states he is no Lewis Hamilton.

Norris has made a fanbase for himself by being active online and doing sim racing. He also has a YouTube channel by the name of Quadrant where he gives a glimpse into his personal life. But the McLaren driver is still not completely comfortable being in the public eye.

I’m not Lewis Hamilton still: Lando Norris

As reported by ESPN, the McLaren driver mentioned he does not have the popularity like that of Lewis Hamilton. In a recent fan survey, Norris was ahead of the 7-time world champion in terms of the most popular drivers on the grid.

“I’m not Lewis Hamilton still. I’m not a seven-time world champion and known for many other things like he is. He’s popular outside of Formula One as well. I wouldn’t say I’m anywhere near that level.” said Norris.

Norris was pleased after coming second ahead of Hamilton in the F1 fan survey. He also pointed out why do so many fans love him as compared to other drivers.

“But, of course, with the charts that came out the other day, being the second most popular… there’s a lot of things fans love me for which is different from other drivers.

It’s OK at the moment. Sometimes it’s a bit too much, but it’s still a nice thing to have.” said Lando.

Max Verstappen came out on top in the survey to beat Norris. Although the young Brit would be happy with his rising fame, he would ideally love to win races and world championships rather than F1 fan surveys.
