The potentially game-changing 2022 Formula One season is near and speculations surrounding the behavior of the cars have also spurred a lot in recent times. Prior to the start of this year, many including Lando Norris suggested that the 2022 F1 cars may display similar behavioral characteristics to Formula 2 cars.
Hence, it almost looked like the new-age drivers like Norris and his fellow colleagues, George Russell, Mick Schumacher, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly, could hold a commendable advantage over the veterans.

Well, according to Andrew Green’s recent comments, drivers like Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, too, might be able to embrace a much quicker adaptation to the complicated 2022 cars. The British engineer, currently working as the Chief Technical Officer of Aston Martin, opined that the upcoming single-seat challengers may resemble a lot of karting’s philosophy.

Hence, Alonso and Norris, who each own a karting outfit, may cherish an early advantage over the rivals, heading into the next season.

Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso set to dominate the mid-field?
As reported by Marca, Green opened up that drivers will have to drive the 2022 cars much like they drive Go-Karts. “There are some challenges from an aerodynamic perspective. The fact that it is a ground effect car means that its proximity to the tarmac is crucial,” he said.

“The lower you can go off the ground, the more performance you will get. performance. And that makes for a relatively stiff car. So to maintain that line, that proximity to the ground, the drivers will drive something more like you do in a kart.”

Norris recently took his own Go-Kart for a drive around Silverstone during the launch event of his team, LN Racing Kart. Meanwhile, Alonso too often hits the track with his own team-karting car (MD Racing Karting). Apart from the pair, the only other F1 driver who has shown interest in Karting is Norris’ close colleague, Carlos Sainz.

In fact, the Ferrari driver even posted a video of himself karting racing in an indoor arena as one amongst other common drivers.
