The world of Formula 1 is a fickle one and one can pinpoint the ever-changing nature of the sport with the standings of the teams on the grid in 2023. The year started off with Aston Martin being the second best and Mercedes with Ferrari in the mix from time to time. However, after the British GP, McLaren suddenly jumped the cue and is now arguably the second-fastest team on the grid. McLaren has comfortably occupied second place behind Red Bull. Now, the Woking outfit is expected to resurrect itself with the help of talented Lando Norris as he overcomes a personal career hurdle.

Norris was advised to leave McLaren’s sinking ship on many occasions, a piece of advice he was never interested in taking. However, now the outlook toward the Woking outfit has changed. Now, McLaren seems like a good home for Norris as the team moves toward its resurrection. In fact, speaking on the Formula For Success podcast, David Coulthard even suggested Norris will overcome his personal obstacle and win races with McLaren.

Coulthard said, “I think actually McLaren has turned the corner. I think they’re coming good again. Yes, he did commit a multi-year contract to them, he would be an asset for any Formula 1 team. So I’m sure, all of the other top teams are well aware of what his contractual terms are. But if they keep going the way they’re going right now, then I see Lando winning Grands Prix at McLaren.”

Norris and Co. have definitely become a force to be reckoned with with their upgrades. The MCL60 is absolutely rapid and if their form continues or gets better after the summer break, they might upset a few teams in the top four. Perhaps not Verstappen-led Red Bull, but Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Ferrari are all in touching distance.

According to BrrrakeF1’s YT video, he said, “I think McLaren could be a force to be reckoned with, and honestly, I’m not going to be surprised to see McLaren being quite strong at least in single-lap pace for the rest of the season. McLaren’s race pace and degradation in the last couple events have actually been quite strong, but I don’t see them competing with Red Bull in that arena this season, and depending on how Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Ferrari develop for the rest of the season, McLaren could make another jump in the Constructors Championship.”
