Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr‘s chemistry was something else. The duo of ‘milk’ and ‘chili’ had the best bromance on the grid in the one season they were together. However since Carlos Sainz has now signed for Ferrari, this bromance will be seen no more after 2020 (sad McLaren noises).

Now that Carlos is heading for greener pastures surely Lando would not let him go without a memorabilia of their time at McLaren.

“I’ll give him a McLaren phone case with a picture of me on it” – Lando Norris

Lando Norris was the latest to be interviewed on the weekly ‘F1 Nation’ podcast. When asked what would he give Carlos Sainz Jr as a parting gift, he said, “ I’m not very good at gifts. So I need to spend some time thinking about it. I don’t know what he brings around with him all the time. Maybe like a set of keys or something or his phone.”

He humorously added, “ I might get him like a McLaren phone case with a picture of me on. So he’s going to be in Ferrari with a McLaren phone case on with a picture of me.”

Imagine Carlos walking into Ferrari headquarters with an orange phone case jutting out of his pocket with a picture of somebody else on it. That would be some scene indeed. We mustn’t forget that Lando has a good amount of time to change his mind. The duo will still be racing for McLaren in the upcoming season. Both Lando and Carlos had an impressive season last year. The former had a solid rookie year with 49 points while the later had a breakthrough season with 96 points, well worth a Ferrari drive.

The duo will be looking to build on their performances from last year both on and off the track. Maybe if Lando gets a podium he could dedicate it to Carlos. That would be the greatest parting gift of all time don’t you think?
