After a disastrous 2020 campaign, the Ferrari team bounced back in the 2021 F1 season. The duo of Sainz and Leclerc put up some really impressive performances throughout the season; the former more often than the latter. The team managed to win the midfield battle to finish 3rd in the constructors’ standings ahead of Mclaren.
Mclaren star Lando Norris has an even sugary prediction for his rival team in the 2022 season.
The young Brit has been teammates with Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, and the two still share a healthy bond. The Surrey-based outfit was also competing for the “best of the rest” alongside Ferrari, but Lando’s form in the second half of the season did not help the team.

Norris believes Ferrari will compete for podiums and wins next year and wishes that Mclaren should also join them in doing so.
Lando Norris predicts colossal success for Ferrari
A weaker engine and a draggy car derailed the Maranello team in 2020. However, in 2021, with different power units, they managed to find a good pace. Norris is of the opinion that there is nothing stopping the Red Team from getting back to the top now. Further, he says that Ferrari never had a bad F1 chassis; the issue was limited to the engine and that has been solved.
“The progress they have made in the latter part of the season has had nothing to do with the car. They have only improved their power units,” said Lando as reported by Marçà.
“I don’t think at any time have they had a terrible car. Even in recent years, I don’t think they’ve had a terrible car. They were simply missing on the engine side,” added the Mclaren driver.

Mclaren should also fight for wins in 2022
Lando Norris had an exceptional first half of the season where he bagged 3 podiums. However, things didn’t turn out as well in the second half where he got stuck in the midfield badly and could only finish once in the top 3.

He is confident about Ferrari in the 2022 season and hopeful of Mclaren to do the same.
“When the power unit was good, they won races, so I expect them to be very competitive. This year they said they have not invested in the development of the car and that everyone was focused on next season,” said Norris.
“They are Ferrari, I think the most successful team in F1, and they are for some reason. I expect them to fight for wins and podiums next season. If we can join that, it would be fantastic,” added the Mclaren driver.
