The response prospects to the candid event that unfolded in 2023. Following the Qatar Grand Prix, where Oscar Piastri clinched victory over Max Verstappen, a relaxed atmosphere ensued as a game of cricket commenced. Lando Norris stepped up to bat, scoring 13 runs and showcasing his skills. Piastri and Simon Lazenby’s team took to the field next. The Australian driver’s batting prowess shone through as he scored 27 runs, securing the win for his team in this light-hearted match.

However, when we come to recent happenings, Piastri’s prowess perhaps didn’t get much of a chance to shine through as he had to give up his position to a teammate on the track. While the move was fair for McLaren, was it as fair for Piastri? Well, he certainly thinks it was.

In Melbourne, the 22-year-old driver and his teammate secured third and fourth positions behind the Ferrari duo, following McLaren’s request for Piastri to swap places with Norris midway through the race. Despite the disappointment of missing out on the podium in front of his home crowd, the Aussie admitted that the swap was fair. Piastri acknowledged that he had been allowed to undercut his teammate earlier in the race and recognized that Norris was faster on fresher tyres after that.

According to Motorsports.com, Piastri stated, “For me, it was completely fair. He qualified in front of me yesterday, went a bit longer on the first stop, and was catching me and quicker at that point of the race. At that point, I was keeping with Leclerc and Lando was catching both of us, so I was honestly kind of hoping he’d be past me and go and get Charles. Of course, at home, I would have loved to be able to stay in third. But for me, that was completely fair.” However, despite managing to overtake Oscar Piastri and close in on Leclerc, Norris seemed to be lacking the necessary pace to challenge the Ferrari duo.
