Amidst the talk of getting P4 in the World constructor championship, team McLaren will soon want to forget the Brazilian GP. The Interlagos circuit didn’t favor the British racing team as both the drivers finished out of points. And Birthday boy Lando Norris is not happy with the decision of stewards regarding his collision with Charles Leclerc.

On the first lap, Daniel Ricciardo crashed with Kevin Magnussen and later Lando Norris collided with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. The collision forced Leclerc into the barriers, but somehow he found himself back in the pits and finished a brilliant P4.

However, before that, as the Monégasque’s F1-75’s front wing was still in the barriers, he was heard calling Lando a “D*ck” for the Brit’s actions on the track. Now, we can assume that the 23-year-old has responded to Charles’s radio message while he defended his on-track maneuver post the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Not being happy with the five-second penalty, Norris said, “I think it’s so difficult for them to put themselves in my shoes in this instance. Charles went around the outside, the first thing you learn in racing is normally not to go around the outside and normally people need to leave a lot of space.

He further defended his actions by explaining,” If any good driver was in my shoes, they would have done exactly the same.”

McLaren now has a mammoth task on their hands as Alpine have a decent 19-point lead ahead of them. Despite this disadvantage, Lando Norris feels he was lucky that his race in Brazil ended a bit early.

The British racing team’s driver arguably got a day off day as the past Sunday marked a double DNF for them at the Sau Paulo track. The crash of Daniel Ricciardo saw the first exit and following that, at Lap 51, Norris retired his car.

Lando Norris had a decent sprint race where he finished at P7. The team hoped for some crucial points from their young driver, but Norris says he was lucky to have retired early. He was unwell that weekend but he took part in all the sessions.

When asked by Autosport and Motorsport.com about his health, the 23-year-old replied, “I was in a pretty bad way yesterday, I didn’t eat for two days, I didn’t drink for two days… I really struggled a lot. Everyone thought I was fine after Friday, because I just did a good job, and we were quick, But it was quite the opposite.”

He further added, “I’m sure if I didn’t break down and if I’d made the end of the race I would have been in quite a bad condition. So in a way I’m lucky that I didn’t, but it was also a shame.”
