Lando Norris’ Miami Grand Prix win will be something the world will chat about for a long time now. It was his maiden F1 victory after 115 race starts but also displayed that Max Verstappen can be defeated in 2024. After winning the race, Lando Norris’ celebration included him saying that this race was for his family and his grandma, showing his light side.

An interesting fact is that before his race win, Lando Norris had a lie detection interview with Sky Sports F1, and that’s where he announced he would be winning a race in 2024 before doing it at the Miami Grand Prix. Although his parents have always been supportive, and his father often comes down to the tracks with him, he will regret not making this one.

During the post-race press conference, Lando Norris sat in the company of his fellow podium scorers and friends, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. The Sun asked Norris a question that touched up on his family and if he had a chance to talk to his parents. Ben Hunt from The Sun acknowledged his victory before he asked, “Have you spoken to your mum and dad yet and their reaction, please? And you also mentioned your nan, I think, or your grandma. Can you tell us a little bit about that, please?”

Lando Norris responded, “Yeah, I spoke to my mum and my dad already, which is always nice because they’re the ones… Normally my dad comes to the races, but not today, so I’m sure he’s regretting that just a little bit.” Indeed, Lando Norris’ dad could not have chosen a worse race to miss than his son’s maiden victory in Formula 1. However, it was impossible to tell that this would be the result of the race.

The Miami GP winner then explained, “But, yeah, I mean, my parents have been so supportive. You know, they’re the ones who are with you from the start. They allowed everything to happen. They’re the ones that got me into racing, supported me, and allowed me to get to Formula 1, reach my dream, and do what I’ve loved to do since I was a kid.” Norris always had the support of his parents, and despite them not being there in Miami, they were overjoyed with his first victory.

Norris explains why he dedicated the win to his grandmother, saying, “And for my grandma, because she’s not been so well lately. I saw her last week, and I told her that I was going to win a race. I didn’t say when. I just said I was going to win a race. And I didn’t think it would be coming this soon. So I’m just very happy that I was able to do it as quickly as I did.”
