Lando Norris Shares Introspection to Prepare for 2022 F1 Season – “I Still Have Things to Work on…”

Lando Norris was arguably the most improved driver last season. The young British driver impressed everyone with his performances in the first half of the season, where he notched up three podiums. Norris also outclassed his new and experienced teammate Daniel Ricciardo in their first season together in McLaren.

Because of his performances last season, Norris is now considered as one of the best drivers on the grid. Norris mentioned he was happy with his progress in the 2021 season. Unsurprisingly, the McLaren driver believes there is a lot to learn for him still.

I need to improve my driving on some tracks: Lando Norris

As reported by Motorsport-Turkey, Lando revealed he has to improve on some tracks in Formula One. Despite being in podium contention for most of the first half of the season, Norris finished in P6 at the end of the season.

“I’m happy with the progress I’ve made. Especially from last season. I still have things to work on because I need to improve my driving on some tracks. I know exactly how to drive when the car is like it has been in years.”

“Then I know I can be very strong. But on some circuits, there isn’t a great performance range and we can’t be fast when it’s hard to drive. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to drive that car,” said Norris.

Norris also revealed that there are still some areas that he would like to improve in the coming years. “Even though the car is very bad, I can still make progress. This is one of the most important areas for me to improve.

Other than that, my starts and first laps, the decisions I made, the strategy, protecting the tire, and everything is better than before. That helped us fight Ferrari,” said the McLaren driver.

Well, it is refreshing to see a driver talk about learning new stuff after coming off a stellar season. It would be interesting to see if the McLaren driver can continue his good form in the new season. Let’s hope that the Woking-based team can provide him with an even more competitive car than the previous seasons.
