Formula 1 is an extremely fickle sport, and no one is facing the brunt of it currently like Aston Martin. The Silverstone-based enjoyed the upside of this fickle nature throughout the first half of the season. However, toward the end, the British team started facing difficulties. Now, with their last podium coming in Canada, Aston Martin TP Mike Krack has revealed Fernando Alonso & Co. are in trouble because the big boss, Lawrence Stroll, is not happy.

Fernando Alonso is undeniably the team’s star and carried them to podiums one after the other. In fact, the Spaniard added a massive $300 million to Aston Martin’s stock value after the F1 season opener. However, whatever developmental path Aston Martin chose, especially after the summer break, has been the wrong one and all their efforts from the first half are being undone.

Aston Martin’s big boss Lawrence Stroll isn’t happy with back-to-back failures

The team has not been able to compete with the front runners after being second fastest for most of the first half of the season. The development of the AMR23 has simply not been able to keep up with the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari, and especially McLaren.

From P2 in the table, Aston Martin recently fell below McLaren in the championship table and is at a 20-point deficit after the 2023 Mexican GP. This scenario, as revealed by Mike Krack after the race in Mexico, has upset Stroll.

“Lawrence is not happy,” reveals the team boss. “But we’re not happy either. Nobody is happy.”

“If you have such a great start to the season and then lose competitiveness, nobody is happy. But we don’t need [Lawrence] to tell us that,” emphasizes the team boss. “We are a strong team and we have to work cooperatively and openly to get out of this.”

Krack also admitted they’re not proud of some of the decisions the team has taken, which is the reason behind their downfall. From the ‘Dark Horses of the Season’ to ‘In the Dark’, will this cost Aston Martin? Well, they won’t lose their main man, for now at least.

Alonso left the sport to take on other racing challenges at the end of the 2018 season, disgruntled and frustrated. In his comeback, he looked rejuvenated and motivated to take on some Formula 1 action again.

However, now 42 years old, the Spaniard is tasting frustration once again despite adding a few more podiums to his tally. Does this push him to retire after serving his contract? Absolutely not!

“Every race I start, even if we are not strong enough to fight for the victory, there is a 1% of me that when I lower the visor hopes that it will be the day I win again. 99% of the time you fail, and life is more about failures than successes, you have to deal with it and become stronger. But the one time you win is worth the wait and all the hard work. The desire to win is always present. I had it from day one and I still have it now. I won’t stop anytime soon,” said Alonso.
