The F1 Brazilian Grand Prix could be held in Rio and not Sao Paulo
Ever since 1973, the Brazilian GP has always taken place at the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo. However, this year’s race got canceled, owing to the pandemic being a ‘force majeure’ reason.
But. per a letter from Formula One Group executive chairman Chase Carey to Rio’s acting governor Claudio Castro, it is possible that future Brazilian GP races could take place at the ‘Autodromo de Deodoro’ in Rio. Still in a construction phase, the necessary permits and licenses once gained, will then allow F1 to promote the racing events there.
