The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will always be remembered as one of the most important and breathtaking incidents for racing drivers as well as fans all over the world. It wasn’t any different for Victor Martins, either. The new F3 champion has recalled the incident from the night in the UAE and was in fear he could face the same fate.
Victor Martins picked up the F3 championship after a nervy last race at Monza. However, it wasn’t easy as the ART driver had to see an obstacle before he could stand in the championship, much like Lewis Hamilton last year.

Talking about this, Victor Martins revealed, “What went through my head was like please, I don’t want the same thing that happened to Lewis Hamilton last year.”
“Now I can feel a bit the happiness, the achievement that I have done.”
“It was a bit hard at the end of the race with all the panic at the end with the penalties, all the track limits that were showing up on the TV, but in the end, it’s done,” conveyed the 2022 F3 Champion.
What happened in F3 that led Martins to remember the Lewis Hamilton incident?
The ART driver was running in third place and was handed a penalty for exceeding track limits. Martins had been running in third behind Maloney and Bearman until the red flag halted the race. A contact between Brad Benavides and Kush Maini brought in the red flag.

Formula 1 and the world have come a long way from the last race in Abu Dhabi. From Max Verstappen picking up his first-ever championship to the F1 race director getting sacked, that race kicked off some really strange series of events.
As for Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion is now on his hunt for eighth, the one he lost out to Verstappen. However, he might have to wait till next year as the W13 doesn’t seem competitive enough to go head to head with the likes of RB 18 and F1-75.
