While there’s no racing action happening on the track, there’s plenty going on behind the scenes in F1. The Formula 1 driver market has been awfully quiet over the past few months. However, several rumors have now surfaced regarding the contract situation of two heavyweights in the F1 world. Allegedly, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton have very little time to make up their minds regarding their current teams.

While Sebastian Vettel dominated the first half of the last decade, Hamilton took over for the latter half. The Briton has dominated the sport in the entirety of its turbo hybrid era and is showing no signs of slowing down. Vettel, on the other hand, hasn’t had the best of runs in recent times. The 4 times World Champion hasn’t been competing at his highest level in the past few seasons.

The 2021 driver market really boils down to a tale of 2 drivers. One, who’s on the cusp of greatness and is seeking prestige as the greatest driver in the sport. While the other attempts to redeem himself and have one last shot at glory before hanging up his boots.

Hamilton and Vettel have two completely different scenarios when dealing with their teams. Allegedly, Hamilton is seeking a bigger pay for a long-term contract while Ferrari has offered Vettel a deal with a slight reduction in salary. However, according to rumors, the duo must provide an answer to their respective teams by the end of this month.

Contract negotiations take time and Ferrari and Mercedes need answers to plan a course of action. There are plenty of drivers who would agree to a seat at either team in a heartbeat. However, the teams must make an important and difficult choice that could have everlasting consequences.
