Haas team principal provides an update on Mick Schumacher

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner provided some positive updates regarding the health of the German driver. He mentioned Mick was conscious and was taken to the nearby hospital for some regular checks.

Steiner mentioned that he had spoken to Mick’s mother also to provide her the updates after the crash.

“I spoke with him directly. He spoke to his mum. I spoke to his mum a few times and kept her updated. He has no injuries which you can see–they just wanted to check on him, doing some scans to see that there is no damage from the impact of the forces,” said Steiner.

“Taking any risks tomorrow, it’s not on. We are in Melbourne in two weeks and it’s better to focus on that one to make sure that we are in a good state there,” said the Haas team boss.

As Steiner mentioned, the young German driver would not be taking part in the main race on Sunday. Hopefully, we’d see Schumacher back on the track in a couple of weeks’ time when F1 returns to Australia.

But his crash is a reminder of how dangerous the Jeddah international circuit is. F1 world champion Max Verstappen mentioned he does not like the layout of the track as it has twisty straights which are bad for visibility and dangerous.

He revealed that he does not understand why the straights at the track are not straight. It would be interesting to see if there are some changes made to the track layout for the next time. Let’s hope the track becomes safer for the drivers.
