The Brit has never been one to shy away from expressing himself. He was one of the vocal critics of Formula 1 restricting the number of helmet changes drivers could make a season. This was because he claimed that the rule stifled freedom of expression.

Lewis Hamilton is a known animal activist. He has gone on the record to say that cruelty to animals pains his heart. This led him to pledge more than $50,000 to animal charities during the recent bushfires Down Under.

The 35-year-old took the opportunity to compare the state of millions of individuals around the world to that of animals in captivity. This was a call made by Hamilton on his Instagram which urged people to boycott zoos and circuses once they were free to roam around.

Hamilton wrote, “If you are home on lockdown, perhaps you can feel a little of what the animals in captivity go through every day, their entires lives stopped from them,”
He called for his followers to not visit zoos after they were free to roam around. This because these few days would have given them an example of the entire lifespan of some caged animals. “In future, please don’t go to any zoos or circuses because this is what our money goes to supporting.”
Hamilton has completed his self-isolation

The 35-year-old said he had zero symptoms. He had self-isolated as a precaution after it emerged that Idris Elba contracted the virus.
Hamilton is currently in the midst of Formula 1’s advanced summer break. The season is set to resume in the second weekend of June in Canada. Lewis Hamilton has been virtually unchallenged in the last 3 years. He has gone on to extend his record of drivers championship wins to 6. Now, he is just one behind Michael Schumacher’s record of 7. He will be looking to make a strong start which will help him in his quest to equal the legendary German.
