On one hand, Red Bull is dominating Formula 1 with Max Verstappen by winning 4 out of the 5 races in the 2024 season so far. On the other, the team is reportedly going through an internal power struggle between the Thai and Austrian sides of Red Bull headed by Christian Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko, respectively. A struggle that threatens the stability of the team as the future of some of the key figures has come into question. One of the most important members of the team is their Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey, who is now reportedly going to join Ferrari to partner up with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

Rumors suggest that Newey, feeling sidelined by internal power struggles and not fully involved in Red Bull’s new Hypercar project, is looking for a fresh start elsewhere, probably at Ferrari in 2025. It’s also worth noting that Ferrari has been after Adrian Newey for almost a decade now. They attempted to poach him away from Red Bull back in 2014, a move that didn’t pan out.

But according to a recent report by Auto Motor und Sport, Newey was reportedly spotted at the airport in Bologna, further fueling rumors of his potential move to Ferrari.

However, Ferrari isn’t the only team that wants Adrian Newey. Recently it was reported that Aston Martin is also trying to secure the services of the legendary Formula 1 car designer.

Lawrence Stroll has offered a massive deal to Adrian Newey

Lawrence Stroll is a visionary. He took a team that was about to be dissolved due to financial struggles and turned it into the Aston Martin team we know today. He wants to build a team that is capable of challenging Formula 1 giants like Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari. And acquiring the services of the most successful designer in the history of Formula 1 will certainly be a massive step in that direction.

During the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix weekend, Lawrence Stroll reportedly made a substantial contract offer to Adrian Newey, hoping to persuade the legendary designer to join Aston Martin’s headquarters at Silverstone. Lawrence Stroll has already taken significant steps in helping Aston Martin become one of the top teams in the sport by setting up advanced facilities like wind tunnels in Silverstone and partnering with Honda as the engine supplier from 2026 onwards.

Acquiring Adrian Newey could prove to be extremely valuable for Aston Martin as it will also attract some of the top drivers in F1, especially Max Verstappen, who has also been rumored to want to move away from Red Bull. Given Verstappen’s fondness for Honda and his relationship with Adrian Newey, moving to Aston Martin in 2026 could seem like a sensible move if Lawrence can get Newey on their side.
