Lewis Hamilton Confesses Having Lung Problems in First Public Admission Post Coronavirus F1 Return

Last weekend at the Sakhir Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton missed a race for the first time in his career. The unstoppable Mercedes driver was put to rest for a weekend by the coronavirus. Lewis Hamilton was COVID positive and was thus was isolated, forcing him to miss the race.
George Russell replaced the world champion at Mercedes. The young driver impressed everyone through his performance over the weekend. He was also supposed to take over in Abu Dhabi if Hamilton had not fully recovered.
However, Mercedes announced that Hamilton would be back for the season finale. So, the champion walked into the paddock yesterday morning. As a result, George Russell had to change his T-shirt and go back to Williams for this weekend.

However, after the qualifying session, Lewis Hamilton admitted that he has not completely recovered from his coronavirus spell. He stated, “I’m not yet one hundred percent. I don’t want to go into details, but I still have problems with my lungs, Corona shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“The race is sure to be tough work. I just don’t have full energy, for example one of the symptoms of Corona is that you are exhausted, I have also lost weight. So I say: I’m not on the same level as I was before the Bahrain Grand Prix. But I will still give everything,” he further added.

Lewis Hamilton shared that he is happy to be driving again, doing what he loves the most. “I want to end a great season on a strong note, but I find it difficult to find a rhythm this weekend,” he said.
According to Hamilton, missing the race last weekend has affected his momentum. He further pointed out, “The car’s balance isn’t perfect either, and my car was slightly damaged after I hit a curb. The guys fixed that as best they could. But that can’t be an excuse, I would never say that it cost me pole.”
