Lewis Hamilton Follows Only 2 Accounts After His Wild Instagram Purge in Protest to Verstappen’s F1 Title Win Last Year

Lewis Hamilton is known to wear his heart on his sleeve. Even though Max Verstappen was a worthy champion, the events that led to Lewis Hamilton losing out on his 8th title had left the Briton distraught.

In light of the controversy, the 7-time World Champion decided it was time for a reset. In a bid to make a statement, and for his own sake, Hamilton unfollowed everyone on his Instagram account.

He does, however, follow only 2 accounts now. According to Lewis Hamilton‘s Instagram profile, the Briton follows his dog Roscoe’s account. He also follows his official merchandise page ‘plus44world’. Interestingly though, Hamilton does not follow his teammate George Russell or his team Mercedes.

Even though Hamilton does not follow anyone on Instagram, his antics have not dulled his supremacy within the social media sphere. But how far ahead is Lewis Hamilton actually in the social media game?

Lewis Hamilton may have lost out to Max Verstappen for the 2021 World Drivers’ title, but his presence and exploits on social media ensure that he is still king when it comes to being the most recognized Formula 1 driver of all time.

Lewis Hamilton is the undisputed king of social media. Currently, he has more than 30 million followers on Instagram. On the other hand, his arch nemesis Verstappen has an Instagram following of only 9.3 million. What’s more? According to research, Hamilton potentially earns about 44,000 euros per sponsored post. Accounting for everything that has happened this year and his rise in popularity anyway, this amount could be even higher as we speak.
