It is not the driver spraying champagne on his team at the podium ceremony that defines him. Rather, how a driver handles adversity on a difficult day speaks the most about his character. Time and time again, Lewis Hamilton has shown his mental toughness, which also makes him stand out.

Notably, his comeback to the grid in 2022, despite what went down at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP finale shows his grit. Hamilton missed out on a record-breaking 8-time world title on the last lap of the last race of the season. It was a difficult phase for the Brit, and he took a hiatus from social media for a couple of months.

He also shared how he reset by revealing “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, so I put my focus into just training, getting healthy and enjoying the time off because it goes quickly.”

Hamilton not only focuses on his mental well-being but also makes a significant effort in spreading positivity. In his former relationship with Nicole Scherzinger, he helped the American singer in her fight with an eating disorder, bulimia.

The Pussycat lead singer shared how the Briton played a massive role in helping her overcome this barrier in life. She said Hamilton “gave me the courage to kind of end that disorder and that disease. He made me feel beautiful for who I am and not what pant size I’m wearing and that helped a lot.”

Why did Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger part ways?

Week in and week out, we see our favorite drivers racing their hearts out on a Grand Prix weekend. However, as soon as the chequered flag drops and the racing concludes, we take our conclusions and move on.

We wait for the next event that takes place in a different country altogether and ignore how the drivers have to fight with jet lag, intense training, and sometimes with the impact of a crash from the last race. The behind-the-scenes work put in by a driver often gets overlooked and the real work that earns them the silverware often goes unappreciated.
