Lewis Hamilton enjoyed an incredible weekend at the Turkish Grand Prix. The Brit equaled Michael Schumacher’s record of 7 World Championship titles.

However, the race win did not come easy to the F1 kingpin. Lewis Hamilton had a tough qualifying session at Istanbul and started at P6 on the grid.

The racing conditions were very challenging. It was difficult to find a grip, as was made evident by Valtteri Bottas’ incessant spins (6 times!).

After his win, Hamilton appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. During his interview, Stephen confronted Hamilton with his little self from the karting days.

He asked an embarrassed Hamilton what would he like to tell his younger self today? Hamilton replied, “Never doubt yourself and continue to believe in yourself always.”

After his extraordinary feat last weekend, he clarified he is a human too. He said, “Ultimately I am a human, and like all of us we have our ups and downs and you know, you’re constantly battling the mind in trying to achieve the impossible.”

The hours of practice everyday is bound to get exhausting. He said, “There are days it feels like it might not work. There were stages through my career, there were days that I didn’t think that I was good enough, I wasn’t going to make it.”

“I’d go out for a run, get back in the car, get back up on the horse and just keep pushing and never give up. I think that was something my dad instilled in me as a kid,” he revealed.

Lewis Hamilton has clarified that he always wanted to be a World Champion and race in Formula 1. But who would’ve thought that the young Briton would equal the record of most world titles ever?
