In his recent Instagram story, the Briton wrote about Isla, “Devastated to hear about Islas passing. Meeting this little girl and her family at Silverstone was powerful and moving, she was a fighter and an inspiration to us all. Her memory will be with me always.”

Hamilton, who wanted to dedicate the Silverstone race to her, met the five-year-old girl during this year’s British Grand Prix. When diagnosed with an incurable disease, Isla had her days numbered. As shared by her parents, the little girl had one wish before she embraces death: meeting Lewis Hamilton.

As a matter of fact, the Mercedes star once regarded his little fan as his inspiration. When he met with Isla in Silverstone, she asked Hamilton if he could win the race for him. To which the Briton replied, “I don’t know if we’re going to win, but I’ll give it my all.”

Isla was merely a five-year-old girl when she left us, but through her dedication and love for Lewis Hamilton and Formula 1, she proved herself to be one of the biggest fans out there. The loss of Isla is not only a loss to her parents, or Hamilton, but to the sport as a whole.
