Lewis Hamilton Jokes About His Beef With Max Verstappen

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are each other’s greatest rivals. The two title contenders have had two major incidents this season that changed the course of the championship.

Even though there is tension between the two drivers, Hamilton denies any beef with the Red Bull prodigy. However, if Verstappen was his age, Lewis reveals that things would be different, but since he is older, he has to set an example.

The Knight had two major crashes with Verstappen, one at Silverstone and the other at Monza. This has heightened the stakes, but Hamilton feels there is no beef with the 24-year-old, but if he was the same age, then he feels that things would be different.

Speaking on Desus & Metro showtime, Hamilton said, “Nah, well look I am 36 so you know he is 25 (24). I have got to set an example. Now if he was 36 then things would be different.”

“I don’t know why they don’t let us do you know like in hockey,” jokingly referring to throwing punches.

The Knight aims to push his rivals at the US Grand Prix

The Mercedes driver needs to overcome a 6-point gap to take the lead from Verstappen in the title race. With six races remaining, Hamilton is hoping to give it his all and claim his eighth championship in Formula One.

Speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Hamilton said, “It’s important to win every race somehow, you know, maximising our points – that’s our goal over these next six races – it’s going to be incredibly difficult and there will be moments where we can perhaps edge them [Red Bull] out and… I don’t like to assume that Mexico is not going to be strong but they are usually very strong in Mexico.”

“But yes, I think it’s going to be… a lot can happen in these six races, so I think we just take it one race at a time, give it everything we’ve got,” he added.
