Lewis Hamilton is an avid movie fan, and Tom Cruise’s Top Gun is one of his favorites. But Hamilton is also a fan of other movie series, specifically the ones that introduced the world to the lightsaber. The 7-time world champion met George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, after his 2021 Qatar GP win, and that led to a new connection.

George Lucas is a huge fan of the sport, and back during the 2017 Qatar GP, he was a guest at the Mercedes garage watching Hamilton race to victory. That race was won with a 25-second lead over rival Max Verstappen, and with that, it can be said that the force is strong with Lewis Hamilton. Lucas witnessed the race and has been caught at the circuits quite often.

One time during Lucas’ F1 race visit, Lewis Hamilton faced a devastating loss. The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix had a controversial ending, with race director Michael Masi’s decision regarding the use of the safety car favoring Max Verstappen and ultimately deciding the championship in his favor. Lewis Hamilton, who was on track to win his eighth championship, was devastated by the outcome, feeling the injustice of the situation. Despite his disappointment, he maintained composure and sportsmanship.
