As the 2022 season kicked off, many doubted Mercedes and especially their star player, Lewis Hamilton. As the hopes of a championship-winning season slowly died down, Hamilton rejuvenated F1 fans with two consecutive podiums; the latest at his home turf at the British GP. However, Red Bull’s main man, Christian Horner, had something to say about this newfound success.

Horner highly criticized Mercedes’ strategy at Silverstone, implying that the team cost their star his place on the top step of the rostrum. The Red Bull honcho made a pointed statement at the strategists. “I was actually surprised that Lewis, with the amount of laps to go, and the degradation that he’s shown, didn’t take a soft.” Horner added that the error let Ferrari “off the hook” as well.

Hamilton brushed these comments off as irrelevant. “I don’t really care! I don’t pay much attention to what is said by that guy.” The steely retort remains justified as the champion further defended his team. Putting it simply, the Brackley outfit made their play with their mediums keeping their package in mind- while also keeping a keen eye on their competitors on the track.

Thus, indifferent in reply to Horner, the driver concluded, “Did we get it perfect? Who knows. But I think we made the right decision…in hindsight, it’s always positive.”
