The Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton contract saga has been going on for a while now. With only two months left before the 2021 season starts, the Formula 1 community is on the constant lookout for a confirmation. Recently, Eddie Jordan, the former Jordan team boss, stated that Hamilton will sign the contract this week.
Toto Wolff had earlier stated that a contact announcement is not imminent at the moment. Last week, Hamilton broke his social media hiatus and hinted at the contract negotiation process.
As per a report, Jordan told PA news that a contract confirmation is just around the corner.

“I believe Lewis will be signed within a week. I cannot see it going into February.Where do Mercedes go after Lewis? Of course, they can have the pick of the crop, but that is not the way Toto operates,” he said.
“He has increased his shareholding over the winter, brought in INEOS as a one-third shareholder, and he doesn’t want to be walking up and down the paddock with somebody new that he has to think about.

Toto Wolff increased his shares in the team, becoming a one-third owner over the winter. Looking at the level of the Austrian’s commitment, one can assume that he probably doesn’t want to be on the paddock with someone new.
Jordan believes Hamilton will join Mercedes just to take his shot at the record-breaking eighth world championship. “He wants to be there with the man of the moment, he wants to be there with the king of all kings in Formula One and that is Lewis Hamilton,” he said.
