Hamilton might be breaking records this season too. And no, it’s not about the record-breaking eighth world championship, it’s the record about poles. Lewis has not one, but two chances to break the record for poles set for a venue. When it comes to pole positions, the Brit is always the number one driver to feature in the list with 103 pole positions under his belt.
According to the statistics, the most number of pole positions for a circuit is eight. Apart from Lewis, two more drivers hold the record for the same. They are Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher. Ayrton holds the record for most poles at Monza, Italy while Michael holds it in Suzuka, Japan. However, both of them have retired from the sport and there’s nobody but Lewis to break the record now.

How did Lewis Hamilton fare this season?
The last lap showdown still might haunt the 37-year-old driver. When Max Verstappen pipped Lewis to snatch the championship away last year in Abu Dhabi, many thought Hamilton won’t return to the paddock anymore. Despite the setback, Lewis came back and he’s back determined.

However, the season hasn’t started too well for the Briton. Certainly not great for a driver like him who’s pursuing a world championship. Despite picking up a podium finish in Bahrain thanks to two Red Bull DNFs, the second race in Saudi Arabia has been a disaster for Hamilton. With Albert Park to take place this week, it’ll be interesting to see if the 2020 F1 Champion can finally make amends.
