Lewis Hamilton is a multiple time world champion who has achieved almost everything Formula 1 has to offer. However, the tale of the current season differs completely. The Mercedes man drove a championship-winning for the last 8 years, but the W13 is far from it. To no one’s surprise, Hamilton is struggling in the current season and he recognizes that as well. In an exclusive with Sky Sports UK, the Mercedes man, among other topics, discussed the 2021 season finale and the struggles of the current season.

Unsure of the reason behind his struggles, Hamilton said, “I’ve come back into a season and I’ve been struggling all year, and I don’t know why that is the case this year. But no matter what I’m working to try to be a better teammate. There’s all these other areas I’m strengthening that I didn’t even realize I would have time to do.”
Mercedes were regularly criticized for their management of Valtteri Bottas. Bottas and Hamilton have a good relationship off-track, but situations on-track were sometimes difficult for the Finn. However, that has not been the case with George Russell.
Regardless, Hamilton is now working on different areas until the current season. Areas that his sub-par performances are highlighting.

Lewis Hamilton is learning a lot from the current season
Hamilton has won all there is to win. However, the seven-time world champion has realized there is learning in defeat as well.

“My whole life I’ve focused on… winning is everything, work towards winning,” he said. “And so anything but, at times, has felt like a failure. I would say that actually I’ve learnt more from the failures. The success and everything is a beautiful thing but you learn way, way more when you stumble, and fall.

It is surprising to note Hamilton, at 37, is maturing further as a driver. Maybe this is an experience that was missing from his career that will propel him to the top again.
