Lewis Hamilton Recalls Family’s Reaction After Hearing His ‘Far-Fetched’ F1 Dream

When people hear the name Lewis Hamilton, they think of a seven-time world champion who holds multiple records in F1 and lives a lavish lifestyle. But not all people see the journey he has been through to make it in Formula One.
The 36-year-old revealed how his family reacted when he told them he wanted to be an F1 driver. He didn’t belong to a rich family, and they all knew it’d be an uphill battle for the boy from Stevenage. However, his hard work and determination saw him achieve his dream of not just being in the sport but ruthlessly dominating it.
Hamilton explains how his family reacted to his dream of being an F1 driver

In an interview with the BBC, he was asked by Elikem, a school kid, how his family responded to his dream. Hamilton opened up about his journey and how watching Grand Prix racing inspired him to be an F1 driver.
He said “So I wanted to be a racing driver from the age of five or six years old. So I knew that’s what I wanted to, as we were watching Grand Prix. At that time, of course, it was such a far-fetched dream. But it was a big dream.

“I started racing when I was eight years old. So that was when the beginning of that journey,” Hamilton concluded.

The Mercedes driver hasn’t won a race since the Spanish Grand Prix and currently is in second place in the drivers’ standings behind Max Verstappen. As he prepares for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, he is hoping to regain the edge over this title rival.
As it stands, Hamilton has 150 points under his belt in the title race while Verstappen has 182. Lewis knows he will have to bring his A-game to the tenth round of the championship this weekend if he wants to bridge the 32-point gap to the Red Bull prodigy.
