It was only recently when fans thought Lewis Hamilton’s spat with FIA on the jewelry ban was over. Well, it’s back.

FIA’s ban on jewelry has been in place for a long time. However, it was only this year when it came into the public eye owing to the governing body’s infamous feud with 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

The Formula One governing body never really enforced the rule very strictly until this year. And as things stand, the nose stud that was removed before the British Grand Prix has made a comeback at the Singapore GP.

It seems Lewis Hamilton came out of the slump after finishing in P3 after the Singapore Grand Prix qualifying. The Briton hasn’t been doing well in this particular season with a car that leaves much to be desired. This qualifying result could help boost some lost confidence. However, despite the good result, he could land himself in trouble with the FIA.

Lewis was seen sporting his nose stud again after the qualifying session today. He was promptly asked about it in one of the interviews after the session.

Hamilton said, “It got infected loads of times when I was trying to find a solution, I went back to the clinic and that’s the best way for it to heel.”

He was asked about the possibility of getting into trouble for it with FIA. To that, he answered, “For me it’s a health part, that’s the way it’s gonna stay and they’ll have to deal with it.”

It seems like FIA has had enough. Reportedly, while Hamilton has escaped the penalty, Mercedes has been fined €25,000 ($24,500).

FIA’s jewelry ban and Hamilton’s rebellion to follow

The governing body’s ban on the bling included wedding rings as well. This prompted a reaction from Haas driver Kevin Magnussen.

He said, “I’ll take a little bit of extra burn on my finger to race in my wedding ring.”

The Dane said that it didn’t feel good to remove the wedding ring before the race and if something bad was to happen, he’d prefer to have his wedding ring on him.

Lewis had earlier criticized the ban, calling the spat “unnecessary,” he continued, “It is kind of crazy with all that is going on in the world, that this is the focus for people.”

It is worth mentioning that earlier in the season Hamilton was given a two-race extension to remove the nose stud, owing to medical grounds.
