How did Hamilton and Cruise become friends?

“Basically I’m a friend of Tom (Cruise),” Hamilton says in the slightest most nonchalant way possible. He has always been known to be very humble and down to earth. Cruise invited Hamilton to the set of Edge of Tomorrow.

And in Hamilton’s young days he was also a big fan of Cruise and his 1986 hit movie Top Gun.

When Hamilton heard that there was a possibility of the sequel of Top Gun, he asked Cruise for a part in it.

He said to Cruise, “I don’t care what role it is. I’ll even sweep something, be a cleaner in the back”.

But Cruise had a bigger role in mind.

Not only did the Actor agree to the F1 driver’s proposal he offered him the role of one of the fighter pilots in the movie.

Why didn’t Lewis Hamilton get to feature in the movie?

The shooting was to happen during the climax of the 2021 Formula 1 season and Hamilton, being the perfectionist, had to cancel on Cruise.

Even for an incredible athlete like Hamilton, being able to do training for both activities was not ideal. He was sad explaining the whole incident and sounded hopeful that a similar opportunity would come in the future.

The movie ended up grossing almost a whooping $1.3 Billion Dollars
