For a while now, Lewis Hamilton has been a part of Formula One’s rumor mill, with multiple sources claiming the seven-time world champion to retire from the sport altogether citing recent events in Abu Dhabi.
The Briton was eyeing his record eighth championship victory at the Abu Dhabi GP and it looked like even a miracle wouldn’t change things around for his rival, Max Verstappen. However, then arrived the major twist!
Race director, Michael Masi, made one of the most controversial decisions in the history of F1 which had a massive effect on the end result, as Verstappen indeed went on to claim his first-ever championship win.

The Mercedes driver was in utter shock, as he then steadily descended into the darkness; He has since been awfully quiet, hardly ever making his presence felt through social media. And this consequently led to a load of theories, with many reckoning Hamilton to give up on his racing career as he had lost hope on the governing body itself.

Will Lewis Hamilton retire from F1?
According to BBC, Hamilton’s F1 future hinges on one condition. Turns out, Mercedes and Hamilton together had recently led the FIA to launch an inquiry into the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. And with the FIA still busy looking into the events that unfolded at Yas Marnia, Hamilton will only make a decision once they reveal their final verdict.

What’s more, BBC further reckoned that Mercedes declined to comment on Hamilton’s future when approached which blatantly shows that Mercedes, like almost every one of us, are awaiting their lead driver’s choice.

Overall, the FIA now have a rather complicated task at hand. Their final verdict could go two ways; One, let Verstappen retain the title which might see Hamilton leaving Formula One for good.

Two, hand the title to Hamilton, which will assuredly witness a massive uproar amongst the entire racing fraternity. Who knows, maybe Red Bull or even Verstappen might subsequently threaten to quit F1. So, which way is the reality going to turn out?
