Ken Block was a visionary. He carved a niche out for himself in Rallying with the WRC. Block then went on to establish himself as a bona fide legend of motorsport with forays in motocross and his famous Gymkhana videos. He’s had an iconic car or two to his name as well. That being said, we lost this visionary to an unfortunate accident today. As soon as the news broke out, the entire motorsport fraternity, including fans, rushed to pay their tributes. Amongst them was 7x Champion Lewis Hamilton. And he left us with an unknown gem, too!

Hamilton took to his Instagram account to share a touching tribute for Block. In a heartwarming message, he wrote, “Today I received news of the loss of a dear friend.” He ended his heartfelt eulogy with, “Gone too soon. Rest in peace Ken.” 

But that wasn’t it.

With the message, he also left a never seen before picture of the two. It was a picture of them together enjoying a moment during their Heli Skiing and Snowboarding trip. However, what made that post even more poignant is the fact that Block passed away today after a fatal Snowmobile accident.

Hamilton wasn’t the only one who paid homage to the late Block. Amongst them were also two ex-Formula 1 champions.

Lewis Hamilton was one of the first people to pay tribute to Block. However, his ex-teammates, Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg, soon followed suit. They took to their Twitter accounts to pay their respects to this motorsport legend.

Button tweeted, “In shock at the passing of Ken Block. Such a talent that did so much for our sport. He was a true visionary with his own unique style & infectious smile. Our sport lost one of the best today but more importantly a great man. Sending love & hugs to the Block family.”

Whilst Rosberg said on Twitter, “Rest in Peace, Ken!”
