Lewis Hamilton Sighs Over Lost Opportunity as the F1 Superstar Lauds Carlos Sainz’s Incredible British GP Triumph

The British Grand Prix was arguably one of the best races of the 2022 F1 season. The race had everything from overtakes, to safety cars, and strategy drama. One driver who was opportunistic throughout the Grand Prix was Lewis Hamilton.
The Briton returned to his home race after picking up a podium finish at Montreal. Coming home is always a great boost for any F1 driver with the local crowd echoing your name in the grandstands.
Hamilton used this love of the British crowd to grab a second successive podium finish this season. The grateful Brit took to social media to acknowledge the English swarm; voices of whom provided him with an extra tenth at each lap.

The 7-time world champion posted a podium celebration picture on his Instagram with the caption, “P3 in front of the home crowd. I was chasing that win and came close, it feels good to be back in this fight.”

At a point in the British GP, it seemed like Hamilton was going to produce something special. However, it was one that got away from him because of a late safety car. This saw the Spaniard, Carlos Sainz, clinch his maiden victory in F1. Nevertheless, it gives the Brit significant encouragement after having a rollercoaster start to the season.
Lewis Hamilton’s legacy at Silverstone
Formula 1 has the top 20 drivers of the world competing against each other at every race weekend. Amidst all this, there are some drivers who never even win a race or finish on the podium in their racing careers. Given that, the record Lewis Hamilton has at the Silverstone track is astounding.

The 37-year-old has won 8 races at the same circuit (Silverstone); a record he shares with Michael Schumacher (France). Ahead of this weekend, he was aiming to set a new F1 record for the most wins at the same circuit. Although he didn’t get the win, he secured a thirteenth British GP podium and became the driver with the highest number of podium finishes on the same track.
