Lewis Hamilton Snubs F1 on Social Media After Toto Wolff Expressed Uncertainty Over His Return
After days of silence, Mercedes announced they will no longer appeal against the circumstances that shaped the race outcome in Abu Dhabi. Apart from a statement on their social media accounts, team principal Toto Wolff also had a press conference in which he described the current state of things. One of the things addressed was uncertainty over whether Lewis Hamilton will continue in Formula 1.
And now, after Wolff’s comments that caused a panic in the F1 community, Lewis Hamilton himself responded regarding this. But not in the way one would expect him to.
They say actions speak louder than words, and this is what the seven-time world champion has emphasized with his response.

As of this moment, Hamilton is no longer following Formula 1 on Instagram.

Speaking in the press conference, Wolff revealed, “Lewis and I are disillusioned at the moment.”
“We are not disillusioned of the sport, we love the sport with every bone in our body and we love it because the stopwatch never lies.”

And as for the 36-year-old’s career in F1, Wolff expressed his optimism. But he also emphasised on the pain that was caused to him in what they judge as an unfair result could play a part in Hamilton’s decision making.
“I would very much hope Lewis continues racing because he is the greatest driver of all time,” he said.

“As a racer his heart will say I need to continue because he’s at the peak of his game. But we have to overcome the pain that was caused upon him on Sunday. He is a man with clear values.”
An optimist would say that Lewis Hamilton is simply expressing his frustration with F1 by doing what he did, while a pessimist would say that he has himself brought down the curtain on his F1 career.

But the answer is something only Lewis Hamilton can provide, and unless he comes out with a statement or an explanation, nobody can ever tell what’s next for him.
