The 2021 F1 season was one of the most thrilling seasons in recent times. The 22-race calendar had it all, from highly wheel-to-wheel racing to changing dynamics in the paddock, and of course, a new world champion. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen battled it out till the very last lap of the season and the Dutchman managed to push it just that extra yard.

Now that the season has ended, the compilation of season-long statistics is out and the data yields some surprising results. Many drivers led in various sections this year and some would not be happy to top certain lists. The title fight looked pretty even throughout the season but many statistics might convey that Verstappen had the edge all along.

Sir Lewis Hamilton fell short of his title rival in stats like most wins, podiums, and poles. However, he pipped the 24-year-old in front row starts, Q3 appearances, fastest laps, and point finishes.

Lewis Hamilton had the most points finishes in the 2021 season

The Briton is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid. He made his debut in the 2007 F1 season with Mclaren and has already entered 288 Grand Prix. Naturally, his experience makes him one of the most lethal forces and ensures that he completes most of the races he enters, avoiding crashes and not pushing beyond the line.

On similar lines, Lewis Hamilton managed the most points finishes this season, 21, followed by Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris in second. World Champion Max Verstappen finished third, having finished 19 races in points. Hamilton could not score in Italy where the two title protagonists took each other out of the race. Not counting the two rivals for the title, Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris were the ones who finished the most times in the top 10 (20).

Max Verstappen failed to finish the race in Baku after leading the Grand Prix for a considerable time owing to a tire puncture. He also dropped out in Silverstone after a crash with Hamilton, a race later won by the Briton.

Sainz had been the most consistent driver this season with no DNFs. Mclaren star Lando Norris also finished each race in points except in Hungary and Belgium.
