When the predictions for the 2023 F1 season were being made, nobody thought that the biggest leap would be made by the team that finished seventh in last year’s championship. The struggling Aston Martin arrived and how. And now their exemplary developmental prowess may now look to inspire the F1’s sleeping giants, which the likes of Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost once called home. Lewis Hamilton‘s close aide has declared a “courageous” ambition.

James Vowles, who was the strategy head at Mercedes, shifted base to the “B-team” as their team principal. And now in charge of the team which has been one of the most iconic ones in the history of the sport, the man has goals. If you still haven’t figured it out by now, I must tell you that we are talking about William’s racing. Silverstone-based team has become an example for Williams as they have seen itself at the far end of the tally more than they’d like. The green team’s trajectory has given the Grove-based team the courage to challenge Mercedes like the Aston Martin.

As reported by AMuS, James Vowles was asked, “Is Aston Martin’s big leap a spur for a team like Williams?” To which he replied saying, “100 percent. This shows what is possible with the right structure. I think they made some clever moves to absorb knowledge from different directions. This team was a good team that is now being built to get into the top 3. It gives me courage that we can do the same.”

While the team now aims to come out of the longest spell of the slump they have faced, the team has one of the richest legacies ever. And the founder of the traditional British outfit would have been 82 on 16th April.

Frank Williams Academy launched on the legend’s birth anniversary

Frank’s daughter and former deputy team principal Claire Williams has set up Frank Williams Academy. They launched the academy at an event in London’s Hoare Memorial Hall. This academy is established in furtherance Spinal Injuries Association. This will be aimed at improving the lives of people who have suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury, and the SIA, which has been the biggest supporter of Sir Frank Williams, is at the center of it all.

“My father lived the most extraordinary life, not least as one of the most successful Team Principals in the history of the sport and doing so from a wheelchair as a tetraplegic for the greater part of it,” said Claire.

“His tenacity in the face of this adversity was just one of the many things that made him such an inspiration to many while he was alive. Following his death, I wanted to do something to continue that legacy, and the Frank Williams Academy couldn’t be a more fitting tribute. The work that the Academy will do will provide potentially life changing care for spinal cord injured people, just as the SIA did for my dad. With that support, the bounds of possibility are endless.”
