One must accept finite disappointment but never lose finite hope. Lewis Hamilton and any other non-Red Bull driver’s hopes for the title have been wrecked. A recent comment made during a podcast revealed a statistic that has put Red Bull on cloud nine whilst hinting towards the catchup reality faced by other teams.
The Red Bulls are the class of the grid so far this season. The lead Red Bull finished a huge 38 seconds plus in front of the next non-Red Bull car. While at Jeddah, Sergio Perez finished 20 seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso despite a safety car. The qualifying pace is also blistering with the Red Bull drivers taking the pole in both races.

With the introduction of limited CFD and wind tunnel testing for every team, catching up with the Austrian team seems a rather impossible task. The Red Bulls were on average 1-1.2 seconds faster per lap than anyone else in Jeddah. Tom Clarkson believes it is difficult for any team to improve their car by a second or so over the season due to the limited testing. He believes Red Bull will not be overtaken by anyone in terms of performance till the season’s end.
During F1 nation’s podcast, Tom Clarkson said “During that race in Jeddah last weekend there were moments when they were 1-1.2 seconds faster per lap than anyone else.” further adding “And given the tightness of the regulations now, I think for a team to develop a car by a second a lap over the course of a season is a good job by then. So I can’t see Red Bull being overtaken by anyone even if they weren’t to improve their car at all. That is how dominant they are”
Even if the RB19 has reached the performance ceiling, its current 1-1.2 second advantage means it has enough buffer to lead the grid, even if the competitors develop by about a second. It almost looks certain that one of the two Red Bull drivers will take the championship home. But which one is it going to be?

Can Sergio Perez beat Max Verstappen to the Championship?
Checo made his intentions clear mentioning the fact that he’s not here to finish second. Max Verstappen is as determined as always to win the championship and the favorite too. Damon Hill believes the Mexican does not have the ultimate speed and ruthlessness of Verstappen and that the Dutchman will prevail and win the championship.
