Lewis Hamilton is an inspiration for many people across the world. He has carefully cultivated an image for himself which is inspirational, clean, and controversy-free for everyone watching. But in his early years, we saw the unfiltered nature of the 7-time world champion.

In 2010, before joining Mercedes, he used a cuss word while addressing his fans on Twitter. “To those of you who care, thanks for your support, am on here for you. To all you haters… I just don’t give a f*** haha,” wrote Hamilton.
Soon after writing this, he apologized. “Aight, to my young peeps, I apologize for the language. Am not venting, I’m always chill. Was not aimed at u. God bless.”
“Lol is an understatement. This twitter thing is funny. So many people getting all stressed n what not:)” clarified the then McLaren driver.
The next day he wrote, “To my people(I prefer to say that than fans)I’ve got nothing but love for u guys..to the others…all I can do is smile..picture me rolling!”

Since then, his behavior towards the F1 fans, and even critics, has changed. He has become more mature in how he conducts himself and also stands up for the fans from time to time.

Lewis Hamilton stands up for F1 fans after the Austrian GP
There were a lot of complaints surrounding abuse from some fans present at the Red Bull Ring. The events disgusted Hamilton, who expressed his emotions and urged F1 to stand up for the fans.

“It’s time for action. We race as one was all well and good, but it was just words. It didn’t do anything. There was no funding towards anything, there was no program to actually create change and spark that conversation.

We need to utilize our platforms. We have to step up and action on some of the things we are saying. Saying it is ‘unacceptable’ is not enough,” said the Mercedes driver.
