An unprecedented career low is being faced by the man who in his rookie season finished tied to the reigning world champion in second place. Yes, we are talking about the 7x champ Lewis Hamilton. The spell of bad luck for the man who has possibly every record to his name just doesn’t seem to end. However, if anyone can fight against all odds to make a comeback, it is Sir Lewis Hamilton. After all, he has done it before.

If you think 2022 was a nightmare for Mercedes, 2023 is an even bigger one, as they seemed to have learned nothing from their mistakes. And the biggest price is being paid by the 38-year-old who is now inching towards a juncture where he might have to hang his boots. And to add to the existing miseries is George Russell, who has constantly been outperforming him. Though the said performance by Russell has been attributed to different setups and Lewis’s sacrifice for data collection. But there’s one thing that sets him apart. His never say die attitude.

Hamilton’s ex-teammate, Nico Rosberg, has stated that even though George is the ultimate test, Lewis is the best of all time. And if there is someone that can beat George, it is Lewis. Moreover, ex-F1 world champion, Damon Hill, has also issued a warning for everyone declaring a possibility of rebirth.

As quoted by Si.com, Damon Hill said, “Let’s not forget, he gets down and then he fights back. You just never count him out, he will go away and have a rebuild himself and once he gets the car he wants, then he becomes formidable again.”

However, the fact of the matter remains that George for the Silver Arrow’s only win in 2022 and almost got a podium in Saudi Arabia.

Lewis Hamilton’s number 1 issue at Mercedes outlined

Mercedes did the unthinkable when they signed George to replace Valtteri Bottas. Lewis was in the favor of the latter continuing at the team. And F1 Pundits haven’t shied away from saying that Red Bull would have never done that to Max Verstappen. Peter Windsor believes that the German team has failed to protect Hamilton. And at the center of all the chaos sits Russell.

Speaking on the Cameron F1 YouTube channel, Peter Windsor said, “The problem is George, of course – it’s not anything more or less than that. And you’ve got to remember Lewis wanted to keep Valtteri. So something big happened there in Lewis’ mind… They didn’t listen to him and they signed George.”

He further added, “There are a lot of good reasons to have George. He’s the future, if Lewis retires they’ve got the guy, more points for the team and all the rest of it. All of them actually amount to nothing if you put them alongside Michael Schumacher’s obvious evidence of how to win a championship. You don’t play around and every point counts.”
